The Southern United States is known for its hotbed of active and modern rock offerings. Central Florida especially has brought to the surface more than its share of bands that are currently creeping up the charts; however this is not a geography lesson. Orlando, Florida’s Soulswitch is steadily making their way through the U.S. and boasts one of the best drummers in independent music today. Don’t look for nu-metal posturing or soulless death by auto tune here, the band’s most recent recording As it Seems is straight forward rock with great hooks and choruses that you will happily sing along to in the car. The band recently played Jacksonville’s Welcome to Rockville Festival alongside Korn, Lacuna Coil and countless others. They held their own against Jax’s very often tough audience. Represented by Prospect Park this band is primed for bigger and better in 2012.
As It Seems was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, the man behind the knobs for more than one Chevelle and Incubus album. From the intimate “Change” to the surging favorite “Transmission’s Lost”, this EP sounds like it is only a harbinger of the greatness this band has yet to produce.
